Nearly half of security-free personal loan applications of the OP Bank Group are conducted on the Internet
Channel-independent system was carried out with J2EE technology
In November, the OP Bank Group was the first company in the Nordic countries to implement an Internet purchase process for personal loans. The process makes it possible for Internet bank clients to quickly get the money into their accounts without visiting the bank office. Houston Inc. was responsible for the architecture and the majority of the application’s implementation.
Applying for a loan online of up to 15,000 euros has been made as easy as possible for the client. The bank, on the other hand, profits due to the streamlined process.
“Purchase of security-free personal loans has increased remarkably during the last two months. We brought loans to our online clients in November, and now already about half our sales occur via the Internet, which is easy for clients and efficient for the bank,” says Heikki Koivula, the Manager of Financial Services Unit of OP Bank Group Central.
Technically the same loan system works both in the bank offices and online for the client, which required special demands for designing and implementing the system.
“We were able to finish this multichannel implementation in just over a year with the help of J2EE technology. A masterful and a well-planned process made sure that we quickly and cost-efficiently arrived at the final result, which gave clear profit both for our client and the final users,” says Tomi Ruotimo, the General Manager of Houston Inc.
Houston Inc. will be the co-operating partner of the OP Bank Group in the next phases of the project. In system development a rapid application development will be utilized.
